Basis of Beliefs
Maranatha College of Wisdom affirms the following core beliefs:
Scripture and God
We believe in the one true God, documented in Holy Scripture as the creator and sustainer of all things. The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, serving as the ultimate guide for faith and conduct.
The Trinity
We confess one eternal God existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-existant, co-equal in power and glory, sharing the same essence while fulfilling distinct roles in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
Jesus Christ the Son
- His eternal deity and virgin birth.
- His sinless life and miraculous ministry.
- His substitutionary death on the cross for atoning the sins of humanity.
- His bodily resurrection and subsequent ascension to the right hand of the Father.
- His personal return in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the active agent of regeneration, conviction, and empowerment. He indwells the believer at the moment of salvation, providing the seal of our inheritance and guiding us into all truth.
The Gifts and Fruit
We believe in the continued operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the edification of the Church and the demonstration of God's kingdom power. Simultaneously, the maturity of the believer is evidenced by the cultivation of the Fruit of the Spirit.
Humanity and Sin
Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin through disobedience, resulting in spiritual death and total depravity. This condition creates an absolute necessity for divine grace and redemption through Jesus Christ.
Salvation
Salvation is the free gift of God, received by faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It involves the justification of the sinner, the ongoing work of sanctification, and the ultimate promise of glorification.
The Church and Mission
The Church is the body of Christ, comprised of all who have been redeemed. Its primary mission is to glorify God, worship Him in spirit and truth, and fulfil the Great Commission.
The Consummation
We look forward to the literal, physical return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the final judgment, and the eternal reign of God in a new heaven and new earth.
